Bio

Bahamian Joseph Spence was both a vocalist and guitarist who influenced many Americana musicians, such as Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, The Grateful Dead and many others. One of Spence's signatures was the humming he often did to accompany his playing, as well as his tendency to play most of his songs in what is called dropped-d tuning.
