Bio

Joe Pass was, and remains, one of the most important figures in the history of jazz guitar. An American, Pass brought an amazing knowledge of chord voicings and inversions to the instrument, and added both walking basslines and counterpoint to his improvisitons, many done fingerstyle. Pass also played with a pick, but often tucked it between his fingers when switching to fingerstyle mode.

Pass played with some of the other legends of jazz including Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson Herb Ellis and Ray Brown. He recorded close to 100 albums over the course of his career and serious students of jazz guitar still woodshed his tunes to this day.
