Koren Provides Relaxed First Night

Kelowna young singer/songwriter Sydney Koren was the first to perform at the new Second Cup in West Kelowna. While still in her teens, she is a veteran of close to 100 live gigs in and around the Okanagan Valley and had previously played the Second Cup in Kelowna on numerous occasions.

Koren sang a mix of covers and originals during an hour long set that created atmosphere as well as entertained the crowd on hand. Her vocals were spot on as she accompanied herself on a 12 string acoustic Taylor guitar on all the tunes.

The young songstress appears to have plenty of personality, although one had to strain one's ears to hear it as she performed without a sound system on this night.

All in all, a fine performance from an up-and-coming songwriter that walked the line pretty well on these often challenging coffeehouse gigs.
